FURNITURE, LIGHTING, AND INTERIOR DESIGNER
Liam Mugavin designs and produces furniture and interior commissions.
Operating in a 700 square meter workshop in Sydney’s inner west, the studio works on projects ranging from research, design and documentation through to prototyping, fabrication and installation.
Liam lived and worked in Yamagata and Niigata, Japan for four years before returning to Australia in 2013 to establish his practice and train at the Jam Factory in Adelaide. In 2015 Liam won the $20k Clarance Prize for Excellence in Furniture Design and was back to back winner of the Emerging South Australian Designer Award. Having gained national recognition and a wide client base, the studio relocated to Sydney and works on products, commissions, interior design and fit-outs. In 2017 Liam completed a furniture commission for Australia House supported by The Australian Embassy of Tokyo and Echigo Tsumari Artfield.
