Mitsuo Shoji is a Japanese trained ceramist who has lived and worked for over forty years in Sydney. He is internationally renowned as a sculptor, functional artist and also as a brilliant teacher. For 30 years he was a Ceramics Lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts. He retired in 2007. Mitsuo has a studio in Ryde, where he creates and exhibits his work. It is also open by appointment.

His artwork has been collected by the National Gallery of Art Canberra and is in almost every major art gallery in Australia. It is also featured in Tetsuya’s and Azuma’s restaurants in Sydney and Waku Ghin, Singapore. His work can also be viewed at Rochfort Gallery, 317 Pacific Highway North Sydney and Lost Bear Gallery Katoomba.
